Parkland Regional Health Authority Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Parkland RHA holds a regular board meeting on the last Monday of every month (except for July and December). Each month the meeting moves to a different community in the Parkland Region. Public are welcome to attend.

Anyone interested in making a presentation to the Board must contact the corporate office roughly 10 days prior to the meeting. Presenters are allotted 15 minutes for their presentation to the Board, with ten minutes for questions from Board members.

2010/2011 Annual General Meeting

The PRHA will hold its 2010/2011 Annual General Meeting (AGM) AUGUST 29th in Swan River at 7 p.m. at the Swan River High School (Swan Valley Regional Secondary School).The AGM will feature a rundown of accomplishments and challenges from the fiscal year (April 1- 2010 to March 31, 2011) as well as a detailed summary of the financial and auditor’s report. The 8th Annual PRHA Board Volunteer Service Awards will also be presented during the evening.

 

Our Board April 2011‐March 31, 2012

The Parkland RHA’s Board of Directors is comprised of up to 15 members including the Chairperson, with one vacancy and an option for one additional appointment by the Minister of Health. The Directors bring to the Board a varied expertise and a keen awareness of the need for change to the present method of delivery to the health care system.

Mary Hudyma‐Dauphin

Board Chairperson

Mary is a former teacher and small business owner. She served on the Board of the Dauphin Ochre School Area for nearly 19 years. She also was Chairperson of the school board for eight years. Currently, she is active in the Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and is a volunteer at the local seniors center.

Rowena Powell‐Roblin

Vice‐Chairperson

Rowena is a retired registered nurse with previous experience in general duty nursing and management positions. She has served as president of Deepdale Ladies Aid ‐United Church. She and her husband have an organic vegetable market garden.

Sharon Basaraba‐Gilbert Plains

Sharon, along with her husband, runs a beef cattle operation and Saskatoon berry U‐pick business. She owned and operated a grocery store for eight years and was secretary/teacher aide at the Gilbert Plains Collegiate for 17 years. She was involved on many volunteer boards including: Museum, Historical Society, Recreation Commission, Resource Council, and Bowling Association. Sharon is also the author of a recent book detailing the history of Gilbert Plains and its residents.

Monica Black‐Bowsman

Monica retired from the Swan Valley Health Facilities in Swan River after working 31years. She is a certified nurse aide and has an avid interest in all aspects of health care. Monica earned another interesting distinction, having been the first former PRHA Board member re‐appointed to the Board after serving her maximum allowed six‐year consecutive term. Monica served on the PRHA Board from 2001‐2007.

Monica is a Board member on the Swan Valley Enterprise Centre, a secretary for the Bowsman Community‐owned store, and has been a spare bus driver with the Swan Valley School Division since 1977. She is also a Long Term Care Surveyor for Veterans Affairs Canada. She is a founding member of the Swan Valley Folkfest which recognizes all ethnic groups surrounding the Swan River Valley.

Patricia Delaurier‐Ste. Rose

Pat is a retired nurse and worked for 36 years in all areas of the nursing field. She is an active volunteer and assists a band by playing the violin in nursing homes and wherever else music helps to spread cheer. Pat also served on the church parish council for three different terms while living in Laurier, Manitoba. Pat and her husband have now retired to Ste. Rose after farming for several years.

Alex Grimaldi‐Dauphin

Alex moved to Dauphin a few years ago after a long career as a Union leader and board member on several agencies including The United way and Success by Six in Edmonton, Alberta. Since moving to Dauphin Alex has trained to be a mediator and organizational leadership consultant, and has started his own consulting business ‘Calabria Consulting’.

Alex sits on the City of Dauphin Beautification Committee and on the Board of Directors for the Dauphin Senior Citizens Recreation Centre. He is a volunteer for ACCESS TV in Dauphin.

In his spare time Alex likes to cook, read, and fish.


Robert Hanson‐Mafeking

Robert is retired from Inco Limited in Thompson, Manitoba. While at Inco, where he spent 31 years, he handled different levels of supervision duties. Robert served four years as Deputy Reeve of the R.M. of Mountain. He was also Chairman of the Emergency Measures District in Swan River. Robert is the current President of the Royal Canadian Legion‐Branch #93‐in Mafeking.

Anne Lacquette‐Mallard

Anne was born and raised in Ebb and Flow, Manitoba. She attended school and received her education there. She has resided in the community of Mallard for the past 48 plus years and is a member of the Mallard Aboriginal Committee which organizes local activities. She was a school bus driver for about 10 years and has six sons and one daughter. Anne is the current Chair of NACC Western Region (Northern Association of Community Councils). She is also a member of the Cancer Care Aboriginal Board. She was past Chair of the Provincial Aboriginal Advisory Committee. Anne served on the PRHA Board from 2003 to 2009.

Andy Maxwell‐Swan River

Andy has been a private practice dentist in Swan River since 1978 with privileges at the Swan Valley Health Care Facility. He is married to April and they have one daughter Jessica. Andy is on the Board of the Manitoba Dental Association, a former Kinsman, and actively lobbying to get the Swan Valley Recreation and Wellness Centre built sometime soon.

Chuck Morden‐McCreary

Charles (Chuck) hails from Elm Creek, Manitoba. After University, Chuck worked in the Group Department of GWL head office. He moved to McCreary and ran two businesses there ‐the general store and dry goods. Chuck eventually branched out and became a financial planner and tax preparer. Over the last 39 years, he has been involved in most volunteer organizations in McCreary.

Paul Overgaard‐Dauphin

Paul is the President of Blue Sky Communications, a company he started after retiring from the Province of Manitoba Air Radio Division as Parkland Region Supervisor. He has served as City of Dauphin Councilor for two terms, Deputy Emergency Coordinator for the City and RM of Dauphin and President of Parks Route Inc, Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce and Fort Dauphin Museum. Dauphin and is involved with various community organizations. Paul is currently involved in provincial and local resource associations and in his spare time enjoys golfing, fishing, reading and time at the family cabin.

Gerald Shewchuk ‐Dauphin

Gerald is a retired teacher and currently a proctor with Dauphin Community Health Services. He’s also a member of the Provincial Mental Health Advisory Council and the PRHA’s Regional Mental Health Advisory Council, where he served as a former Chairman. He is also a casual direct service worker with Metis Child and Family Services and a member of the Literacy Working Group at Laverne Morrisseau Adult Education Centre. Gerald also served as Assistant Returning Officer for the Dauphin‐Roblin Provincial Constituency from 2006‐2008.

Harry Showdra‐Swan River

Harry has an extensive background in municipal affairs, having worked as a municipal administrator for over 38 years. He retired as Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Swan River in 1999. Harry also took his turn at the Council table serving as a Councillor from 2002‐2006. He has been a member of the Swan River Valley Agricultural Society, Chamber of Commerce and Swan River Economic Development Committee. Harry is a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada in Swan River. He and wife Audrey enjoy retired life and are active members of their community and church.

John Tichon‐Fork River

John is a semi‐retired farmer. He is a current Councillor with RM of Mossey River and a previous member of the Fork River Recreation Board. He is has represented numerous community boards including Fork River Community Hall and Knights of Columbus in Winnipegosis.
