Parkland Community Health Assessment
A Community Health Assessment attempts to measure health status of the population and to highlight
significant health issues. An assessment also identifies available health resources and describes
how these services are used.
The Parkland Regional Health Authority (PRHA) began this comprehensive Community Health Assessment
in June 2003. The process included staff, health care providers, community partners, volunteers,
and residents of the Region. Health data and information were gathered, shared, analyzed and
interpreted. Several sources of data and information were accessed including Statistics Canada,
Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, Manitoba Health, Acumen Research (Regional Telephone Survey) and
the PRHA. Opinions were sought through community consultations, focus groups, and interviews with
partners and services providers.
This Community Health Assessment report is intended to assist policy makers and service providers
with evidence-based planning in order to achieve the PRHA vision.
